The following story is about this chapel:
In 1679, Denis Plousteur, alderman of Grand-Rechain, had to pay taxes imposed on him by the soldiers of Louis XIV, but he did not have the money. His only son was therefore taken by them as a hostage to Maastricht.
Denis Plousteur then invoked Our Lady of Perpetual Help, promising to build her a chapel if his son returned home unharmed. When his wish came true, he received permission from the lord of Soiron to use the wood of the 'Oaks of Autel' to build a chapel.
This chapel had fallen into disrepair in the mid-19th century, but Henri Montfort, a maecenas in the area, built a brick chapel to replace the original wooden structure. The statue in the chapel is still the original statue that Denis Plousteur placed there.
(Note the murder cross on the side of the chapel, commemorating an event in 1648.)

In 1680, Denis Plousteur built a chapel on another site (Bois de Chêne) in gratitude for the release of his only son by the soldiers of Louis XIV. The chapel fell into ruin. Thanks to the generosity of Henri Montfort, the chapel was rebuilt in 1872 but on its current site. The statue of the Virgin Mary in the niche on the facade is still the original statue. In the chapel garden there is also an old crucifix by F. Desyer.
