This beautiful mining nature trail below and around the Maassener Gaipel impressively explains the history of mining in Lautenthal with many information boards and replicas. The Lautenthal art ditch is also one of them. A very idyllic natural hiking trail 🌲👍🏻

The easy-to-walk nature trail is equipped with numerous information boards. Historical mining is explained in words and pictures as well as through reconstructions at 15 stations. With a bit of luck you can still find chunks of ore with galena, sphalerite, copper pyrite, calcite and quartz along the way.
Visitors are led over mining heaps along old industrial ditches (water supply) to tunnel mouths, reels (old conveyor system) and other reconstructions.
A particularly outstanding station is a water-powered artificial wheel, which drives an art of driving via a 63 m long field linkage.
