Jungle path in Eisenach
Deep gorges, imposing cliffs and breathtaking views. The wild and romantic Drachenschlucht and the Landgrafenschlucht have long been known beyond the borders of the city of Eisenach and the Wartburg Hainich World Heritage region. The about 8 km
long jungle path leads through a diverse landscape. From damp and cool valleys to sunlit hilltops - on the Eisenach Jungle Path you can

Ancient forests, home of the primeval forest relic species. In the forests around Eisenach, special wood-dwelling and endangered beetle species have been found - the so-called jungle relic species. The beetles only have a limited range of motion and are therefore dependent on the presence of habitat trees and sufficient dead wood in the vicinity. Their occurrence therefore shows that biologically valuable forests with a sufficient proportion of old trees and dead wood have existed here for centuries. A particularly rare species of beetle, the strictly protected hermit, was found in the forests around Eisenach. (... from information board)
