    The Lac des Perches - Sternsee - is located at about 1,000 meters altitude in a glacier valley.
    The name is said to come from a boy who fell into the lake and drowned while trying to catch a shooting star.

      Beautifully located lake, not accessible by car and therefore not so crowded. Invites as a stopover on a strenuous hike to a refreshing swim (only for swimmers!), So definitely swimwear with you.

              It is possible to walk around the lake, but in the part opposite the dam you have to walk through large boulders without a path. But it is doable.
              The path is usually 1-10 meters above the lake surface.

                On the other hand, the signage, at the Col des Perche: could do better!!
                For the Tête des Perche or the Lac D'Alfeld...
                So, for the Lac D'Alfeld: follow Ballon d'Alsace until an intersection on the left.
                I lost an hour: returned at night!

                  Very nice lake. Awesome water color and lots of fish. Also there are many views of the lake as you climb back up to the top. Nice paths in the corner

                      Beautiful, diverse surroundings. Unfortunately, swimming isn't allowed in the lakes. Lac de Neuweiher is a cesspool. Danger signs warn of this. Very worrying...
