The Freiburg Bächle ("Bächlein", Bach with the Alemannic diminutive ending -le) are a landmark of the city of Freiburg im Breisgau. Documented since the Middle Ages, the man-made watercourses fed with water from the Dreisam can be found in most of the streets and alleys of the old town. The total length of the Bächle is 15.9 kilometers, of which 6.4 kilometers run underground.

No Freiburg without the Bächle. In summer, adults and kids alike like to keep their feet in the cool water. The latter can be from their parents, grandparents, etc. You can buy colorful wooden boats at one of the market stalls provided for this purpose, which you then let drift with much hooting. For Hans peep into the air, it means watch out. Many a person has accidentally stumbled into the brook.
