Optical telegraph near Haut-Barr Castle, which was part of a telegraph line that connected Paris with Strasbourg in 1798 - 1852. Approximately 50 stations were built for this purpose or were erected on existing buildings, such as the Saint-Sulpice church in Paris. In Alsace, the telegraph was no longer used since the train and electric telegraphy were put into operation in 1852. In the The only remaining tower of the former telegraph Chappe of Saverne, the workings can be viewed. The tower museum is run by a team of volunteers.
