The Château de Rochetaillée-sur-Saône sits on a hill high above the city and the river. The castle was built in the 12th century, became state property after the French Revolution in 1790 and gradually fell into disrepair. In 1892, Pierre Claude Bellingard carried out a first restoration. With the takeover of the castle in 1902, Jean Joseph Clerc restored the castle and expanded it into a chateau. In 1959, Henry Malartre acquired the castle and set up the Musée Henri Malartre automobile museum in it.
