Swimming is strictly prohibited in the Kaiserhammer Pond – yet, in good weather, up to 100 recreational enthusiasts frolic in and around the lake. However, swimming in the Kaiserhammer Pond is not only strictly prohibited by law, it is also dangerous to one's health. During heavy rain, additional pollutants are washed into the pond with the surface water. In recent years, salmonella and coliform limits have been exceeded frequently.
The police are supporting anglers in their efforts to keep the pond free of swimmers. "But as soon as we put up new prohibition signs, they are torn down and dragged away." Vandals have also damaged the regulation drain, which is protected by iron gratings.
