Very nice little exhibition that is really worth a visit. As a child of the Berlin Wall, you may have grown up with it, but here you can see once again how perfidious the inner-German border was. More information: herzogtum-lauenburg.de/poi/grenzhus

Outdoor area:
The comprehensive dismantling of the GDR border barriers took place in the early 1990s. That's why the idea arose to rebuild elements of the barrier system from original parts in order to be able to convey a spatial impression of the threatening situation along the inner-German border.

In 2001, the reconstructed facility was opened in the disused gravel pit in Schlagsdorf. There you can see the border signal and barrier fence, observation tower and border fence I with the different obstacles in a shortened model but in real size. They depict the situation in the 1980s.

The outdoor area is approximately 500 meters from Grenzhus and is accessible during museum opening hours.

You have to see this exhibition. It conveys to the visitor exactly life on the then inner-German border in the region. A hotspot on a bike tour together with the outdoor area and important that future generations are reminded of the painful division of Germany.
It's a shame that the museum supervisor / ticket seller was listless or incompetent.
