The Neutor is one of the outer fortifications of the Marienberg Fortress.
The gate passage of the new gate is slightly curved in order to avoid a direct shooting through. The loopholes are laid out in such a way that there would have been no cover for advancing enemies anywhere. The gate guards of the New Gate were probably often bored and for this reason left scribbled letters on the gate walls. Deep grooves made by the guards can also be seen on the innermost loopholes: This is where they put the finishing touches to their halberds (spear, thrust weapon).
The openings in the roof vault were used for ventilation and ensured that the powder vapor could quickly escape.
