The Ayous lakes form a group of six lakes: Castérau, Miey, Gentau, Bersau, Paradis and Roumassot.

Arranged in stairs, they form a magnificent amphitheater to land and admire the Pic du Midi d'Ossau.

Camping is authorized around Lake Gentau, at the foot of the Ayous refuge.

Eat at Refuge Ayous and stay overnight at the lake. What more could you want than waking up in the morning to grazing horses and having a cozy coffee in your sleeping bag with a view of the Pic du Midi d'Ossau. As everywhere in the national park, bivouacs are only allowed overnight. You can't leave your tent there during the day. In any case, this is one of the most beautiful bivouac spots in the Pyrenees.

Very beautiful lakes that offer fantastic views of the Pic du Midi d'Ossau below the Pic d'Ayous.
When I first saw the Pic du Midi d'Ossau coming from the Col d'Ayous in 1983, I was overwhelmed. Together with the Neouvielle Reserve, this lake area is one of the dream landscapes in the Pyrenees.
