This great lake was created from the former open-pit mining Espenhain. In the years from 1939 to 1994 lignite was mined here. In 1999, the flooding of the lake began, on 15.07.2006 the Markkleeberger Lake was then handed over to the public.
He is a fantastic lake, south of Leipzig and near Markkleeberg. Many great beaches and beaches, good leisure activities, action on wild water slide in the east and great restaurants for your well-being. The lake offers with its more than 9 km long circular route, for example, on the south side, great gravel roads that bring the biker really fun!
