Spectacular views from up there. The tower has been manned for a long time to watch out for forest-fires, a very dangerous threat during the dry months of the year. Nowadays they have cameras installed which are powered by solar panels.

There is also a little chapel up there. It is said that a monk has been living there for many years a long while ago.

For the people of Nazaré this little mountain is called São Bras. Every year at the 3rd of February the families come together at the foot of the mountain to celebrate with barbecues, singing and dancing. This is for them also the start of the carnival season, no matter at what date this might be somewhere else.

I've been up there many times and I must say I really enjoy the eastern track as it's so much more natural and special.
