              It is a little small when there are crowds of people here, but it is secured with a railing. What is special is that from this view you can see the two landscape forms, one characterized by granite, the other by sandstone. This is precisely where the granite rock pushed under the sandstone slab. To the north there is a more V-shaped valley with sloping granite slopes, while to the south the vertically terraced walls of the sandstone are visible.

                      💚💛💚 The view can be easily reached through the so-called Wolfsschlucht (stairs) from the Polenztal and from the direction of the "Hocksteinachänke" inn on the way from the parking lot. There are several (partly with railings) secured vantage points and a small shelter. The view across to Hohnstein Castle and down into the Polenz Valley is simply amazing!

                                  The striking Hockstein rises majestically above the Polenztal. From the summit of the Hockstein you have a panoramic view that is simply breathtaking. Enjoy the view over to the imposing Hohnstein Castle and down into the Polenztal.
                                  As part of the Saxon Switzerland National Park, the Hockstein is not only an impressive natural wonder, but also a protected area that is worth exploring. Please remember that you are entering the core zone of the national park, where only marked paths may be used. On your way you will pass secured viewpoints and a small hiking hut, which is perfect for a leisurely rest, especially in bad weather.
                                  From here, a well-signposted path leads you down through the picturesque Wolfsschlucht gorge via an impressive staircase into the Polenztal.
