In the 1990s, knightly games for tourists were also held there. We went to them with our child.

1) The former manor house Pröbsting is now considered the oldest secular brick building in the Münsterland. Founded in 1221 as the provost's estate of the Vreden monastery (hence the name "Pröbsting") and owned by a member of the von Gemen family. In the middle of the 14th century, it was expanded to include the imposing manor house (white) and in the 18th century, an outer bailey with a gatehouse and corner pavilion was added. This was followed by rapid changes of ownership and decades of vacancy and decay. In the meantime, it was used as a care home and in 1986 the listed building was restored. At the turn of the millennium, the Pröbsting Castle Clinic was established here.

2) The poet Ilse von Stach was born in Haus Pröbsting in 1879 and wrote moving lines about her life on the manor in her novel "Haus Elferding". At this time, stories also emerged about a "White Lady" who once haunted the house at midnight with her parasol.
