The original structure was built in the middle of the 15th century. In 2011, the facade could be reconstructed with the help of a community foundation, as the town hall was destroyed in World War II.

Unique in Germany: the restoration of the late Gothic-Flemish town hall facade from 1455
on the Great Market of the Hanseatic City of Wesel on the Rhine.
The reconstruction of the display facade of the 2nd Wesel town hall was financially supported by many people, with great interest throughout Germany. Donations came from all over the world.

With this reconstruction, the city of Wesel (since 1241) is given back one of the most important city objects of its traditional history - for lasting memory for present and future generations!
The town hall is a symbol of the glorious Hanseatic period (from 1407) and of Wesel's town identity. It is the only building that commemorates this period. It stands on the oldest square in the Hanseatic city, on the Great Market.
