On this humpback bridge, consisting of a central arch and two smaller ones on the sides, via Clodia, coming from the gorge of which the Serisia ditch flows in the territory of Barbarano, crossed the Biedano stream and then climbed towards Blera where split into two branches.
The bridge is carefully built in blocks of peperino, placed without lime, which have a rustic ashlar on the external face.
The original width of the bridge (4.70 m) allowed via Clodia to cross it while maintaining its 4.10 m carriageway.
The restoration of the bridge in 1916 involved the complete re-wrapping of large parts of the structure.

The name has been associated with various artifacts in different countries; often they were so defined because their structures were considered so complex and daring that their realization had been made possible only by means of an artifice of the devil, thus giving rise to numerous legends.
