Trail: LAVIN - GUARDA - FTAN

Standing out is the village of Guarda, which lies on a terrace and whose village center is one of the most beautiful in Switzerland. Distinctive village fountains and numerous lovingly restored Graubünden houses document this impressively. The hike is effortless and leaves plenty of room to enjoy the magnificent landscape.

From Lavin train station, follow the hiking trail in the direction of Guarda (Guarda 1.20 h). The lofty location on the outskirts of the small village of Guarda is breathtaking in itself. The home-protected village plays the story of the famous "Schellenursli". The defiant houses with their sgraffiti, the carved gate entrances, the crooked alleys - everything radiates the magic of bygone times. In Guarda, the traditional Hotel Meisser with more than 100 years of family history is recommended. The hotel enjoys a wonderful view and has a magnificent panoramic hotel garden. The cozy pine parlors, the atmospheric rooms and suites and the exquisite cuisine offer relaxation with added value. From here continue towards Ardez. In Bos-cha walk straight towards Ardez. Above Ardez follow the hiking trail to Ftan. At a fork, turn right towards Ftan. Hike to the post office in Ftan. Buses run regularly from Ftan to Scuol. From there you can take the train back to Lavin.

Lavin – Guarda: Short but scenic

An easy and scenic hike from Lavin am Inn up to the picturesque Engadin village of Guarda.

From the train station, we head toward the church at the eastern end of the village. An underpass leads safely beneath the railway line and the Engadin road. A steady climb leads to the first hill, where the path splits. Both paths lead to Guarda: the left one continues at a steady incline, while the right one initially follows a flat, slightly curved slope, before rejoining the upper winter hiking trail via a steeper climb. Almost exactly halfway between Lavin and Guarda (after the short stretch of forest), we pass through the former settlement of Gonda. After another climb over the terraced slopes, the path turns left to the bridge over the Clozza mountain stream, which at this point also forms the municipal boundary between the two municipalities of Zernez and Scuol. Soon after, you'll reach the road and the entrance to Guarda. You'll reach the PostBus stop by turning left at the church.

Very beautiful, leisurely rising hiking trail from Lavin to Guarda. It starts in Lavin immediately behind the very remarkable St. Georg church, not far from the train station.

On the way there are always beautiful views of Guarda, the valley, the Lower Engadine Dolomites and vis-as-vis Piz d "Arpiglias and Piz Macun. Several well-tended benches along the way.
