The Varrel estate building and history

The manor consists of several buildings, not all of which belong to the manor from the start. Some of the buildings were dismantled in other locations and lovingly integrated into the ensemble here. Since 1980 the Förderverein Gut Varrel e.V. has ensured that the estate exists in its current form.

At the beginning …
... the Varrel estate consisted of ruins and on February 7, 1980, the Wilkens group of architects recommended the demolition of the manor house. The proposal to build a half-timbered house from Hüpede at this point is rejected. The renovation began on May 15, 1984. The use of many voluntary helpers, as well as helpers from job creation measures of the employment office, ensured that the manor house was listed as a historical monument at the end of the 1980s.
The estate is also a recognized cultural center in the region. Various types of events are held regularly, especially in the barn.
