The old bridge on the Pottscheid was built by Ferdinand Mülhens and originally ran over a Siefen. After this was filled in, the bridge was no longer needed and was filled in after the Second World War. The bridge piers built from Drachenfels trachyte remained standing and fell into a deep slumber until they were cleared in summer 2020. The bridge consisted of a mixture of trachyte structures and a wooden structure. There are pictures of the intact bridge in the Siebengebirgsmuseum.

Before Ferdinand Mülhens bought the Petersberg Hotel from the bankruptcy of the "Betriebs- und Verwaltungsgesellschaft Petersberg mbH" in 1911, he tried to build a hotel on the Wolkenburg. For this purpose, he had already had a new road built. It led from the "Dicken Stein" on the Königswinter - Ittenbach country road to the Wolkenburg.

He had a magnificent chestnut avenue laid out on the summit of the Wolkenburg.

The Bachem quarry family did not agree with this plan, so the courts were involved. As a result, Mühlens stopped the construction work and the Wolkenburg was left to nature.
