In Carnuntum, a part of a Roman city quarter was reconstructed at its original location in a unique way in the world. Completely rebuilt houses with Roman underfloor heating, functional kitchens and magnificent wall paintings open a unique window into the Roman past of the early 4th century AD. The buildings provide a detailed look into Roman life - as if the residents had just left the houses.

A very good mix of restored buildings and ruins, just as they were excavated! Lovingly maintained, it looks as if the residents of some of the buildings will soon return... even fresh vegetables are regularly placed! The highlight is the restored, fully functional thermal baths!
