The church is a half-timbered church, the half-timbered is built from Göhrdeeiche. The tower is half built into the church. The basic shape of the church is a square (10 by 10 meters) to which a half octagon is attached. The interior has a wooden barrel vault typical of the late Baroque period.

Riebrau is located 1.5 km north of Zernien on Kreisstraße 21 and has been part of the municipality of Zernien since 1972.

Anyone who finds out about Riebrau quickly realizes that the history of the village is inevitably linked to the Riebrau parish. Riebrau is a good example of the changeable settlement history of the villages in the Hohe Geest. Riebrau was already mentioned in 1360 under the name "Rrybere". The name means something like "place on the slope of a mountain". That may also be true, because when it was founded, Alt-Riebrau was about 600 m further north on the way to Zienitz and actually on the slope of a hill.
