The hike is really steep from the starting point, and I asked myself several times why I was doing this tour. Above you know: the view of the glacier is really breathtaking. From up here you can really feel how huge and large these ice masses are. Getting so close to the crevasses is something very special. I could have stayed up there forever.

Heavy hike, with great views of the glacier. Definitely requires sure-footedness, but hardly any exposed areas.

We recommend hiking boots, as it also involves snow and rocks.
The hike was very strenuous, as it's all steep uphill - so good weather is a must. The hike is incredibly varied, and once you reach the tree line, you're constantly rewarded with breathtaking views. The view of two mountain lakes and the lake near Odda accompanies you on the way to the glacier. Once you reach the glacier, you'll see several tongues, waterfalls, and snow - simply a magnificent reward for the effort. You can even walk up to the glacier and touch it ;) (don't go up!!!)
It was also great that there weren't many hikers out there, as many take the other, shorter route, perhaps including a glacier hike to Buarbreen.
