The pioneer camps of the GDR were referred to as central pioneer camps (ZPL for short). The deal was in Roßkardtsee, Motzener Strasse, Heinrich Rau, 1000, VEB Schwermaschinenbau "Heinrich Rau" Wildau, private property, warehouse in derelict.

The central pioneer camp "Heinrich Rau" was operated by VEB Schwermaschinenbau Werdau. The inauguration of the pioneer camp at that time took place on July 12, 1953. In 1955 a new large kitchen and in 1958 the first permanent bungalows were built. The pioneer camp was wound up in 1990. Nowadays it is hard to imagine anything about the individual buildings.

A great 18-minute documentary with contemporary witnesses from the former pioneer camp. Nice childhood memories come up because there were pioneer camps and holiday camps everywhere in the GDR.

The pioneer camp "Heinrich Rau" was operated in Groß Köris until 1989. During the research phase of the program, the students learned that the half-ruined buildings near the school housed a pioneer camp during the GDR era. Based on this discovery and the conversations with their grandparents, the students tracked down old photos, old postcards and contemporary witnesses: the doctor, the leader, 2 employees and participants of the former pioneer camp. The students portrayed these contemporary witnesses on site. The stories of the protagonists show an interplay of past and present.
