Horst Castle is a Renaissance building from the 16th century that has only been partially preserved but is still well worth seeing. The adventure museum in the castle 🏰 provides insights into life and work on a noble residence in the 16th century. The museum is open every day except Saturdays from 3 p.m. (Sundays from 11 a.m.) to 6 p.m. and there is no entry fee.
The very large parking lot at Horst Castle is unsuitable for hikers due to the parking time limit (3 hours).

The renaissance castle of Horst rises in the center of the Horst district on the site of a medieval castle that was severely damaged by fire in 1554 and owned by the von der Horst noble ministerial family.

Refurbished through the tireless efforts of committed Horst citizens, Horst Castle is now the most important Renaissance building in the Ruhr area and is also one of the oldest and most important Renaissance buildings in Westphalia.

From 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. the premises can be visited as part of a museum tour.
The foyer, which is framed in glass, can be entered beforehand and impresses with an original and unrestored front of the castle built in the 16th century.
