Not far from Bundesstrasse 51 between Dülmen and Buldern is the former Carthusian monastery »Marienburg« in the Weddern peasantry. The only branch of the Carthusian Order in Westphalia was founded in 1476. Until 1803 it was inhabited by the "silent monks". The foundation is based on the foundation of the knight Gerd von Keppel, who bequeathed his castle and the associated possessions to the order. Prince-Bishop Heinrich Graf von Schwarzenburg confirmed the foundation in a document. Saint Bruno of Cologne is venerated as the founder of the Carthusian order.

The late-Gothic church made of red brick is a simple single-nave vaulted building with a roof turret and laterally adjoining niches for the monks' celebration altars. The fact that the plan of the church dates back to the 15th century is proven by the slender, three-part windows ending in fish-bubble tracery.
