The Malakoff Tower is a copy of a medieval tower erected in 1854 by the then owner of the estate. It would take its name from the Battle of Malakoff, during the Crimean War, during which the allies, English and French, won against the Russians. The hilly landscape between Lembeek village and Lembeekbos was molded by castle owner and gin distiller Paul Claes. The castle is no longer there, but the Malakoff Tower stands out on the other side of the hill. This replica medieval watchtower (1854) is located in a beautiful nature reserve with old Zennemeander, ponds, swamp zones and flowery grasslands. The Malakoff domain was voted the most beautiful spot in Halle.
