One day a boy from Eidenberg came running home crying, he had lost his three oxen. The householders went in search, but it was all in vain. Three days later the farmer went into the woods and found the oxen lying in a circle on the Schönanger, their heads turned inwards and calmly chewing the cud. The farmer recognized the situation of the animals as the intervention of a higher power and built the Schönanger chapel as a thank you.
