The Quak Fountain has a total height of 5.82 meters and a diameter of 4.89 meters.
The Quak Fountain replaced an obelisk fountain that stood a few meters away. Its artistic designer was the architect Ludwig Nobis. The building was inaugurated as part of a local festival on May 27, 1934. A propaganda event of the German Front, Ottweiler local group, with the town of Ottweiler. The Whitsun Quak is a fitting example.
If you look up Whitsun Quak (Pfingstquack), you'll learn that the name is derived from the Latin word "quinquaginta" - "fifty." This refers to the 50th day after Easter, or Pentecost. Fountains are then decorated with flowers and branches, ribbons, and blown-out, painted eggs. Children parade through the village as Whitsun Quake, collecting bacon and eggs, and today also money.
