The city wall in Rothenburg leads around the whole city. The route from the Klingentor to the Spitaltor is completely accessible. On the side facing the valley, it is only provided with a battlement between Stöberleinsturm and Kohlturm along the hospital quarter, the so-called Kappenzipfel.

City wall and towers
As early as the 16th century, Rothenburg was often called the "Franconian Jerusalem" because of its city skyline - and rightly so, because the cityscape is dominated by numerous towers. The old town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is surrounded by a city wall. Six gates and a few small doors for pedestrians lead through this city wall into the old town (or out of it).
