It is one of the longest caves in the area Muggendorf / Streitberg and connected by a narrow corridor with the Brunnsteinhöhle. The Schönstein cave can be visited with guided tours. Beautiful caves with great stalactites! BUT please heed the following cave rules:

Take nothing with you except photos.

Leave nothing behind except footprints.

Don't kill anything except time.

Unfortunately, the cave stinks of urine in many places! Please urinate outside, never in a cave! A few days ago we removed old wood from the shaft in the Neischelspalte: I threw away my gloves afterwards because the wood was so dirty with urine!

Even if a cave is not closed during the winter months, there is still a ban on entering it throughout Bavaria from October to the end of March to protect the hibernating animals. Please also take care not to enter the lakes and puddles during the summer months: rare animal species live here that may be inconspicuous but cannot survive a footstep.
