The De Hoevens estate was purchased in 1918 by the Blomjous brothers from Tilburg. On the road towards the main building (part I) is a Flemish BARN, restored around 2001, probably 15th century in the ground, but younger in its current form.

Description

Four-aisled Flemish barn under a thatched wolf roof. Internal oak beam construction of probably partly recycled material, a combination of deck and anchor beam construction in the form of a (rare) storey beam.

Appreciation

The barn on the De Hoevens estate is of general interest. The building has cultural-historical value as a specimen of the development of the agricultural history of Brabant from the early Middle Ages to the early 20th century; it is also important as an example of the typological development of the Flemish barn. It has architectural-historical value because of the building history, especially because of the framework. It has ensemble values because of the relationship between buildings and cultural landscape.
