Plankner Kappile
In the past, a path chapel was often built for various reasons, very often out of gratitude for recovery from serious illnesses or by a foundation out of religious piety. This cape on the mountain side of the Schaan - Planken road was built by the residents of Planken in compulsory labor and with the help of the community in the Schaan area. The reason for the construction of this chapel is not known. The roof and wooden tiles were supplied by the Nendeln brickworks. During the renovation in 1950, the Kappile received this mural of Our Lady of the court chaplain Ludwig Schnüriger, who was then active in Schaan and who had created various religious pictures as a painter. At funerals - the deceased of the Planken community were previously buried in the Schaan cemetery - the funeral procession stopped in front of this Kappile on the way from the house of the deceased to the cemetery in Schaan, and the Credo, an Our Father and an Ave- Mary prayed.
