Here is the former Maakenwerder harbor, which was pumped dry and filled for the Elbe tunnel. A beautiful vantage point with a view westwards / downstream towards the Övelgönne, Neumühlen, Fischmarkt and upstream towards the Landungsbrücken. It can only be reached on the approx. 1 km long, paved western bank path of the Köhlbrand (Süderelbe), which is reserved for pedestrians and two-wheelers.
A small green oasis in the middle of the industrial port of Hamburg.
This place can be reached by bike or on foot via a path from the Waltershof ferry terminal in Köhlbrand and is located above the southern entrance to the Elbe tunnel on the A7 motorway.
You are very close to passing ships; despite the hustle and bustle at the container terminal west of the Maakenwerder Höft and the Elbe tunnel access, it is very quiet and a lot of nature - a nice place for a break.
