The long and steep stairs are somewhat hidden and can be used as an ascent or descent from Weinbergstrasse to the Herrenkuppe. The Weinbergstrasse branches off from the Cossebauder Talstrasse and leads in several curves up to the Oberwartha high plateau. It got its name after the viticulture that was once operated here, the history of which can be traced back to the 13th century. During the heyday, the cultivation area stretched from the Herrenkuppe on Gnomenstieg over the Liebenecke, the Bischof-Benno-Weg to the slopes of the Lotzebach valley.
