The winding tower from 1958 was used for the coal mining in Dresden Gittersee and was moved to the current location as a cultural monument from 2003 to 2006.

To commemorate almost 500 years of hard coal mining in today's Freital urban area, two steel headframes, which were once on Dresden territory, were relocated to Freital-Zauckerode on the Oppelschacht (Wilsdruffer Straße) and Freital-Burgk near the castle.
The city of Freital, in cooperation with WISMUT GmbH and the Freital mining and metallurgical association, enabled the dismantling, decontamination and reinstallation of the headframes of shafts 1 and 2 of the former "Willi Agatz" mining company in Dresden-Gittersee. There the towers, manufactured by VEB Stahl- und Brückenbau Ruhland, were in operation from 1952 (shaft 2/today's Zauckerode location) and 1959 (shaft 1/today's Burgk location) until production ceased in 1989.
Since 2003, Freital has two more mining monuments and tourist attractions with the rebuilt headframes. Each tower is 28 meters high and weighs 54 tons.
