This old house is one of the most artistically significant buildings in the town of Bad Aibling. It was built in 1665/1670 by the wealthy Stephan Forster, who ran his law firm here. He was not only a market clerk (i.e. notary) in Aibling, but also a judge in the Beyharting monastery estate, in the Fischbachau monastery and in the estate of the Count of Maxlrain. From 1781 to 1912, the building housed an agricultural business in addition to an inn. In 1897, the inn was given the name "Ratskeller" because the original name "farmer's inn" no longer had any appeal. The valuable figurative Lüftl paintings on the south front were created by the Aibling church painter Johann Georg Gail around 1770 and were later renovated and supplemented by the church painter Prof. Sepp Hilz. A further renovation and restoration took place in 1955. The surrounding, rich facade design has been changed several times over the last few decades and has thus always adapted to the taste of the respective owners and the spirit of the times.
