The new port of Patras (South Port) has served as the central "Gateway to Europe" since 2011 and is the primary port of call for international ferry connections to Italy.
While the South Port handles long-distance traffic, the old North Port (near the city center) is primarily used for local connections to the Ionian Islands.
The routes are mainly operated by the ferry companies Anek Superfast, Grimaldi Lines, and Minoan Lines.
International connections: Ancona, Bari, Venice, Brindisi
