The Nienhäger wood, the official name of the forest section around the seaside resort, better known as the ghost forest of Nienhagen, belongs to the forest of the Rostock district and is managed by the forest authority. The approximately 180 hectare mixed forest looks extraordinarily spooky, especially in fog or wind: when the trees, bushes and grasses growing here lay in bizarre shapes in dim light and are pushed towards the ground by the storm. When there is a strong storm from the direction of the Baltic Sea, it seems as if the gnarled trees with their sparse crowns whispered to one another in a wind-fleeing form.

This forest near Nienhagen is really impressive. Directly above the cliff, it stands imposingly with its tall trunks and dense crown roof. There are wonderful views of the Baltic Sea. It is fascinating how the tree trunks shine in the light of the sun.
