The so-called Hasse-Haus was built around 1630 as the organist's house for the parish of St. Petri and Pauli. From 1672 to 1776 it was the home of the Hasse family of organists and thus also the birthplace of the later famous composer Johann Adolf Hasse (born on March 23, 1699). Today it houses the Bergedorf Tourist Information Center.

Numerous restaurants for almost every taste and the pedestrian zone in the direction of Sachsentor still has many shops to offer that do not belong to the big chains...they come later or can be found in the CCB.

The Alte Holstenstraße was originally part of an old military and trade route between Hamburg and Berlin. The Lohbrügger section between the railway bridge and Lohbrügger Markt was called Große Straße until 1937 and was the nucleus of the municipality of Sande.

At first, simple owner-occupied cottages were built along Grosse Strasse, which can still be seen today at Alte Holstenstrasse 45-47. Multi-storey apartment buildings followed around 1890, such as the house at Alte Holstenstraße 35. This resulted in a residential and commercial street that had grown, and by 1908 there were more than 40 craftsmen and shops. This appearance only changed in the 1970s, when many old houses were demolished as a result of the city planning policies of the time. In 1985 the upper part of Alte Holstenstraße became a pedestrian zone and in 2010 the lower part became "Boulevard Lohbrügge".
