The "Großenhainer Baseline" of the Royal Saxon Triangulation consists of 3 1st order stations and was the triangular basis for the triangulation as a geodetic measuring method. The two ends of the base were measured by hand with the Bessel measuring apparatus and served as a triagulation base for the bearing on the measuring point Collm and Keulenberg. This measurement determined the scale of the entire triangulation network.
The base end of Quersa is very well preserved as a technical monument and easily accessible for hikers and cyclists. Information boards offer the opportunity to find out more about this technical masterpiece of our forefathers.
