With its friendly restaurants, bars, cafes and pubs and fascinating history, East Grinstead is a charming market town in West Sussex. East Grinstead has some incredible historic architecture: the high street is one of the longest stretches of 14th-century timber-framed buildings in England. There are also historic buildings such as Sackville College and the sandstone almshouse which was built in 1609. During the Second World War, the town became the unfortunate site of the worst air raid in Sussex when bombs fell on Whitehall Theatre and across the town.
