Trees are exhibited here and you can identify them on signs. The entrance gate is directly behind the fighting deer (monument) opposite the green hunter.

These include two natural monuments (protection grounds, individual character, beauty, geographical / natural history reasons:

"The arboretum (lat. Arbor = tree) was founded as a forest garden by Theodor Hartig in 1838. Hartig was appointed professor of the newly established forestry department at the Collegium Carolinum in Braunschweig - today's Technical University He was given a suitable area for forest botany lessons, for demonstration of forest culture methods and for the cultivation of plant material for the state forest. A three-hectare medium-sized forest area in the Buchhorst near Riddagshausen was then made available to him ) Collection in a systematic arrangement. [...] After the arboretum had lost much of its original quality in the last few decades, the facility was renovated in 1998/1999 with the help of the Richard Borek Foundation.
