The town center of Grafenau is the heart of the Bear Town, brimming with charm and history
and a lively meeting place between tradition and nature. As the oldest town in the Bavarian Forest (grand town charter since 1376), Grafenau exudes a special blend of historical dignity and rural serenity.

The town square is characterized by well-preserved town houses, the Old Town Hall,
the Säumerbrunnen fountain, and the parish church of the Assumption of Mary. Cobblestones, Bavarian gables, and lovingly designed facades give the town center a cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger.

Around the town square, you'll find cafés, inns, and small shops selling regional products and handicrafts. Particularly charming is the combination of everyday life
