The Breitachweg above the Breitachklamm leads to Riezlern through a wild and romantic river valley. In one section, the Breitach forms the border between Germany and Austria, or between Bavaria and Vorarlberg. There is no car traffic. The Gasthaus Waldhaus, located directly on the Breitach, offers refreshment opportunities.

The river is created in Baad, a district of Mittelberg in the Kleinwalsertal by the confluence of Turabach, Derrenbachund Bärguntbach. It flows in a northwesterly direction through the valley, which was formerly called Breitachtal after him. At the Walserschanze, the Austrian-German border, the Breitach reaches German territory and squeezes through the narrow Breitachklamm. Then the coming from the west Starzlach opens. At the Iller origin near Oberstdorf, it merges with the Stillach (middle upper reaches) and the Trettach (right upper reaches) to Iller (Wikipedia).
