A narrow, steep path leads from the road up to this imposing window in the mountain. Only shortly before the window is the opening recognizable. Impressive this size. On the opposite side you have the view of the sea in front of you.

During the Ice Age, the area was much lower than it is today, pushed down by the ice masses, and the sea formed two caves, which over time grew together to form the cave we know today. As the ice melted, the land rose and the hole in Torghatten is now high above sea level.

The hike up to the "hole" takes about half an hour and the well-maintained path is easy for both adults and children. The hiking trail is a testament to the fact that the fascinating rock formation has been a popular tourist destination for more than a hundred years; both the Swedish King Oscar II and the German Emperor Wilhelm II have visited the place.
