The market square, surrounded by Franconian half-timbered houses and the neo-Gothic town hall, forms the center of the city.
The neo-Gothic town hall was built from 1865 to 1867 and with this architectural style is a rarity in southern Germany. The facade, the staircase and the citizens' hall are particularly impressive. As a reminder of the earlier market times, the old city scales from 1775 were hung under the arcades of the town hall and since the renovation in 1989 a carillon has been playing several times a day. The tourist information is located on the ground floor and medals and awards from the successful fencers of the Olympic base and the IOC President Dr. Thomas Bach shown the most famous ambassador to his hometown Tauberbischofsheim.

Tauberbischofsheim is the district town of the Main-Tauber district and is famous for its historic old town. Of course, it also became known as the Mecca of fencing. In the old town, the most interesting houses are grouped around the market square: the neo-Gothic town hall, old post office and pharmacy, baroque palace, Mackert'sche Haus, etc.

Tauberbischofsheim is located in the lovely Tauber Valley. The city, which is more than 1,250 years old, has a pretty old town with many half-timbered houses and medieval buildings. The town hall and the remains of the city wall with the hunger tower are particularly worth seeing. Above all, Tauberbischofsheim became world-famous as a fencing town that produced many successful athletes. For years this was the Olympic base for fencers.
