—-the Loonse and Drunense Dunes—-

The nature here is very varied and exciting, as are the separate cycling and hiking trails.
This means that no one is disturbed in their hobby and there is no risk of accidents
It's not that big anymore either.

There are also many opportunities for a well-kept and cozy stop here:
The rusting Jager, the three Linden, Bosch and Duin, the Klinkert,
d'n Dries, de Roestelberg,
Het Rivets...

In the Loonse en Drunense Duinen you will find forest, heath and especially a lot of sand. It is one of the largest drifting sand areas in Western Europe. The wind can blow undisturbed in many places, resulting in an ever-changing landscape. That, and the changing of the seasons, make every visit a new experience.

The Loonse & Drunense Duinen is one of the National Parks of the Netherlands, located in Brabant. The area is best known for its large drifting sand plains. These are surrounded by forest area. It is one of the largest sand areas in Western Europe.

Around 1850 the area consisted of approximately 1400 hectares of drifting sand and currently only 270 hectares remain. Natuurmonumenten, the manager of the National Park, is doing everything it can to protect this hectare.

The ‘Kaatsheuvel ice rink’ was dug in the thirties as a work provision scheme. They drove away the mountains of sand with dump trucks. In the winter of 1931 - 1932 an idea arose in Kaatsheuvel to build an ice rink as part of the work provision scheme.
