The castle was sold unrenovated for €1 a few years ago, in the most beautiful spot in Immenstadt 🤪🤣,
because renovations were supposedly too expensive, so the Free State and the city rented the space.

That's long-term management 🙈🤣🤣.
But the renovation was successful 👍

Built in 1550 as an official building by Count Hugo von Montfort, the building was expanded into a castle by Georg Freiherr zu Königsegg between 1595 and 1620. The south wing was built at the end of the 17th century, the west wing in 1746 but demolished again in 1973. It was the residential palace of the Counts of Königsegg-Rothenfels until 1804 and later served as the seat of the local court. From 1970 the building was rather orphaned and partly abandoned to neglect. In 2005 it was taken over by the city and then passed on to private ownership. The castle was extensively renovated and restored and now functions as a citizen's castle and cultural center of the city.
