In the forests around Groß Gerungs in Lower Austria there are many natural monuments around which myths, riddles and fairy tales are entwined. One of these monuments is the Kierlingstein, four granite blocks stacked on top of each other. In the middle of the top block there is a bowl about 40 centimeters deep that is always filled with water. The water is said to heal illnesses and make you beautiful. The resting place next to it is said to have a balancing effect on the autonomic nervous system.
